The difference between encoder push-pull output and differential output

The push-pull output and differential output of encoder are two different output modes.

Push-pull output means that the output signal is driven through a device such as a transistor or MOSFET. The output port is usually a switching circuit that can output a signal at a high or low level. This output mode is simple and easy to implement, and the output signal has strong anti-interference ability, but because of the single-ended output, the signal attenuation and interference may occur during long-distance transmission.

Differential output means that the output signal is presented in differential form. The output of one signal line is connected to the ground wire, and the output of another signal line is connected to another line. The voltage difference between the two signal lines represents the output signal. Compared with push-pull output, this output mode has more stable signal quality and stronger anti-interference ability. It can effectively reduce signal interference and distortion in transmission, but it needs to use twisted pair and other special cables for transmission.

Therefore, the push-pull output is suitable for short distance signal transmission and simple applications, while the differential output is suitable for applications requiring high signal transmission quality, such as high-speed motion control systems and precision measurement systems.
